Heritage Trees

As a Board Member of Canby Livability Coalition (CLC) that is promoting the development of the Art Park  on the corner of IVY / Territorial to create a space that documents the living elements and character of the Canby area,  I am starting  a 'pilot'  project to try to document the history of our area via our largest and most majestic trees.

In this initial stage I am asking anyone who feels they have a tree on their property or know of a tree on our common lands (parks, open spaces) that is a unique species type or oldest or largest of its species that others might enjoy seeing on a local  'tour'  to help us start to document what we have in our midst.

A tree with a known history of date planted and by whom -would be especially interesting. Ideas and volunteers for implementing a Heritage Tree program are also very welcome. Even if you are not sure of the tree type, please contact us so we can consider it.

Please call/write with  your tree info so I can begin an inventory.

Thanks for your interest and ideas,

David Peter   (CLC -volunteer- parks, open spaces, restoration programs)
