This Saturday, July 25th more than 20 members of the Canby Fire Department will converge at the intersection of Grant Street & Hwy 99E with boots in hand for this year's Fill the Boot drive led by this year’s Mike McNeil Award for Excellence recipient Duane Stoner for his tireless contribution to MDA.
The day will start with the Canby Chief Jim Davis, Battalion Chief Todd Gary and Chief Wayne Austen accepting the first donation of the day a $1,500 donation from the Canby Cruisers.
For more than six decades, fire fighters have fueled MDA's mission to find treatments and cures for life-threatening muscle diseases. Muscular dystrophy and other related life-threatening diseases take away people’s ability to walk, move, smile, talk and even breathe.
Funds raised through 2015 Canby Fill the Boot event support MDA’s life-enhancing programs such as state-of-the-art support groups and clinics, including the MDA Clinics. They also make MDA summer camp possible so local Oregon kids with muscle disease can enjoy “the best week of the year” at our in state camp.
